Amid all the maket carnage gold has begun a retreat from the 1000 dollar mark. Could this be a double top in the short term?

No dividend cuts here, at least not yet. Dividend cuts by major banks around the world does beg the question as to whether Canadian bank dividends will hold up. Bank of Montreal (BMO) held their quarterly dividend at .70/ share or 2.80 annualized and, on todays price of 26.75, that is an annual dividend of 10.48%.

OTTAWA - The Bank of Canada today announced that it is lowering its target for the overnight rate by one-half of a percentage point to 1/2 per cent. The operating band for the overnight rate is correspondingly lowered, and the Bank Rate is now 3/4 per cent
